10th edition CIFF – 10-14 April 2024
“Go For It! How To Direct Your Own Story and Fulfill Your Dreams”
At the initiative of the US Consulate General in Curaçao, a number of workshops for our youth will again be organized as part of the 3rd edition of Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam.
This time, the American Youth Empowerment Speaker and filmmaker of Mexican descend Carmen Marron has been invited to conduct a number of workshops in combination with screenings of her film “Go For It!” in the week of February 7th through 14th.
Carmen Marron is in high demand as a motivational speaker at high schools and colleges in the US. She serves as a role model for young women in particular and all youth in general. Having grown up in Chicago’s rough neighborhoods as child of Mexican immigrants, Carmen is living proof of what one can achieve in life if only one dares to dream. She has taught herself how to write a film script and how to produce her film with a minimum of financial means. And all that because she felt she had a story to tell and by believing in herself.
Her film “Go For It!” reflects the reality of socio-economically disadvantaged youth and addresses the societal issues they face, but also what can be achieved by going after your dreams. Her message to youth is: “You can overcome the worst of circumstances and challenges and become the person you’ve always dreamed to be. Just go for it!”
Curaçao IFFR is very pleased with this initiative offered to us and are happy to invite you to make use of this special opportunity to help inspire, motivate, and support our youth on their way to adulthood.
The workshop/screening is free of charge, language is English or Spanish, and all you have to do is provide a classroom/auditorium and the audience/participants.
Please sign up as soon as possible by email to Percy@CuracaoIFFR.com secure your time in the schedule of that week.
