Queer

USA, Italy | 2024 | English | 135 min. | d.s.

A story about love, lost love, and mad-about-the-boy obsession. Based on the autobiographical novel by William Burroughs. William Lee (Daniel Craig) lives cheaply in Mexico City after the Second World War, haunting bars, needy, horny, and moody.

Living on drugs and casual encounters with men, Craig strips away all the confidence of his armored James Bond persona, reminding us what an exceptional actor he is. Lee becomes passionately obsessed with Gene (Drew Starkey), a handsome American who appears to be straight but is nevertheless attracted to Lee. Together they embark on a journey to South America in search of the hallucinogen Yage, or Ayahuasca, that supposedly gives the user telepathic powers. What follows are some of the most terrifying psychedelic sequences ever filmed.
