Caribbean Eyewitness Accounts of WWII

Dutch Caribbean | doc | 30 min | Papiamentu, Dutch| n.s.

This year, we celebrate 80 years of freedom within the Kingdom since the end of World War II by screening four eyewitness accounts. In 2017, the Cultuur Kameleon Foundation, in collaboration with the National Committee for May 4 and 5, published The Caribbean Think Book. This educational booklet highlights the impact of World War II on the Caribbean islands while also encouraging reflection on peace and freedom today. As a supplement to the teaching materials, eight short documentaries were created, featuring eyewitness accounts and archival footage. These films, found in archives in the Netherlands and Germany, provide a powerful impression of life on Curaçao, Bonaire, and Aruba during the war years.

With introduction by Anja van Bergen.

Our Lost & Found program presents the following 4 short films: Lanta para watapana, Mosaiko Kultural, Caribbean Eyewitness Accounts of WWII, Tasting Contrasts.
