The Curacao International Film Festival (CIFF) is now accepting applications for the 9 th Yellow Robin Competition, a showcase for first and second feature films by filmmakers from or working in the Caribbean and the Caribbean basin (including coastal Central and South America), as well as filmmakers from that region living or working in the diaspora.
The Yellow Robin Competition offers a platform for emerging talent from the Caribbean, the Caribbean basin and the diaspora. The winning film will receive a cash prize of $6,500 USD and a second prize of $1,000 will also be awarded.
The winning film will also screen out of competition at the Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico and Film by the Sea in the Netherlands.
The 5 filmmakers selected for the Yellow Robin Competition will be invited to CIFF to present their films. The 11th edition of CIFF will take place from April 9 – 13, 2025 at The Movies Otrobanda in Curaçao.
Submissions are open until Monday January 13 th, 2025.
Eligibility:
– The festival accepts both fiction and non-fiction feature films with a minimum duration of 60 minutes.
– Films must be the filmmaker´s first or second feature film.
– Films must be made in the Caribbean and/or the Caribbean basin (including coastal Central and South America) or by filmmakers from that region living or working in the diaspora.
– Films must list their production year as 2023, 2024 or 2025.
– Films must have English subtitles
– Submission is free.
Deadline: Monday January 13th, 2025 at 18:00 AST (16:00 CST).

Robin Submission” in the email subject heading.
Please include a viewing link, a short synopsis and a bio of the filmmaker.
Selection Process:
After submitting your film, the selection committee will watch and consider. All films will
be notified of their final selection status by Monday February 10, 2025. In case your
entry is selected, you will receive further information about sending the master copy
(DCP) and other film materials. There will be no correspondence on the decisions of the
selection committee.
