LOCAL & REGIONAL HISTORY_In 1977, an unexpected musical marriage occurred between a local youth rock band and a church choir. 40 years later, this band (Grupo Serenada) is still dedicated to preserve traditional Papiamentu songs.

The musical group Serenada was formed in 1977 when a local youth rock band merged with a church choir. Over the years, the group has explored the boundaries of local music, experimented with voice harmonization, rhythms, and musical styles while always focused on preserving the colorful musical heritage of the island of Curaçao. For over 40 years, the group, consisting of eleven dedicated volunteer singers, has been dedicated in keeping the traditional Papiamentu song alive.

The documentary follows the group in the process of recording their new DVD and shows how long-term focus and dedication, friendship, unconditional loyalty, and discipline are key elements that contribute to the group’s long existence.
